| Neil Derry – On
the Issues
Fiscal Reform
· Eliminate County credit cards for politicians and
staff.
· Set limits on travel expenditures by County officials
and staff.
--There is simply no justification for County officials to
stay at 5-star hotels and dine
at 5-star restaurants on the taxpayers’ tab.
· Prohibit hotel reimbursements for travel of less
than 50 miles.
--County politicians and staff to commute from home to their
local business meetings
just like the rest of us!
· Require detailed public reports for all County expense
reimbursements.
· Oppose higher taxes and excessive county fees.
Public Safety
· Expand Law Enforcement patrols and aggressively target
parolees, street gangs and Section 8 housing abusers.
· Crack down of illegal immigration. Support tougher
County ordinances to penalize businesses that knowingly hire
illegal immigrants. Strengthen law enforcement measures to
identify and deport illegal aliens in our jails.
· Implement an active forestry management plan to
protect homeowners from deadly wildfires.
· Oppose gun control laws. Protect our Constitutional
Right to defend our homes and families.
Quality Of Life
· Obtain our District’s fair share of County
funding for roads, parks and public safety.
· Promote “Build Green” community planning
standards that encourage water and energy conservation in
future County projects.
· Use my business experience to attract quality local
jobs that reduce commuter congestion and enable local residents
to spend more time at home with our families.
· Expedite County road repairs and highway safety
projects—especially in our mountain communities.
Accountability
· Hold regular community meetings to listen to the
concerns of local residents and share ideas about improving
county government.
· Support term limits—without loopholes—for
all county elected officials.
· Strengthen our laws against corruption by stopping
County Supervisors from using public tax dollars or campaign
committee funds to pay for their personal expenses.
